Elfav Ice Creamery

December has arrived, and for people living in a country where it’s mostly sunny like the Philippines, we’d get all excited for this month because with it comes the gush of cold Christmas wind. Yet lo and behold, even the weather these days can't seem to make up its mind. One moment it's really sunny, then it's raining cats and dogs the next. It really makes deciding what dessert to get a big chore. One lesson we've learned in life though, is that whatever the weather may be, you can never go wrong with a hefty scoop of ice cream.

We headed down to the Pergola Mall in BF Homes, Parañaque and settled at this appealing ice creamery. The exterior was designed to attract people from all ages, especially the kids (and kids-at-heart), and the inside really screams chill.

Elfav Ice Creamery is known for their unique assortment of ice cream flavors. The day we went there, they were serving Vanilla, Chocolate, Bubblegum, Cappuccino, and Bleeding Eyeballs (a combination of Cappuccino and Strawberry, with strawberry syrup and chocolate chips) for Premium Flavors. They also had Super Premium flavors, the odd ones, which were Turones de Kasuy, Bailey’s, Tequila Rose, and Beer.

We were surprised that they also had meals in their menu. Since we just came from a hearty lunch out, we dug in straight to the ice cream. Here’s what we ordered:

Bubblegum, single scoop (PhP 40.00)
Suni: Bubblegum has been my all time favorite ice cream flavor. Elfav's take on their own version of the bubblegum ice cream is okay but not that exceptional. I loved its creaminess and its melting feeling in my mouth. On the other hand though, I think it's a bit too sweet to suit my taste buds. Nonetheless, it didn't fail to bring out the kid in me so I'll give this one 3 spoons!

Bailey's, single scoop (PhP 70.00)

Rizzi: My Bailey's ice cream was just a scoop of delight.  The alcohol was barely there but since I didn't order that to get drunk, the taint of flavor was enough.  It was smooth without being too creamy, exactly the texture I want in ice creams.  I'm definitely going for round 2 when I get the chance.  It's a little scary to give something a perfect score this early on, but I'm pretty pleased with Elflav's Bailey's Ice Cream. 5 spoons and two thumbs up!

Bleeding Eyeballs, single scoop with chocolate chip toppings (PhP 50.00)
Oshin: I think this ice cream flavor is one of their Halloween specials, with the blood and eyeballs reference and all. Had I not asked the guy behind the counter what's in the concoction, I will probably think that it's 3/4 chocolate and 1/4 strawberry. The cappuccino flavor wasn't really that strong, or maybe it's the chocolate chip overload. Either way, a scoop of Bleeding Eyeballs is just right for a tummy that's craving for something cold after a big lunch. Three (3) spoons for this! :D

They had other toppings available like Nips, candy sprinkles, marshmallows, rice crispies, etc. The flavors with 3% alcohol content are available only for those 18 years old and above. A Make-Your-Own-Sundae procedure is even posted on their glass wall.

Elfav Ice Creamery is located on the second floor of the Pergola Mall, just above the open space in front of the mall. You wouldn’t miss their spot, as they also have chairs and tables outside, and a board displaying what’s on their menu for the day. And they have other board games and free WiFi too, so you and your friends can definitely beat the heat (or brave the cold) at this neighborhood ice cream place.
